Interior Brands: Cool homeware with Next
When I first think of Next, I think of shoppers queuing first thing in the morning for the Next January sales. For some reason, people get over-eager about the Next sales, as if the store is super expensive and they need to bag a bargain as soon as the shop doors swing themselves open. I once worked a Next sale whilst at university and it was a looooong day with customers arriving from 5am, desperate to take something home with them!
In fact, I think Next is actually pretty affordable all year around and it's not just somewhere to stock up on dresses and pyjamas (although they're always great), as they have some fantastic homeware too. I guess the big queues for their sales are just testament to what an all round great high street store it is!
As a reader of my blog, you'll know that I am a big fan of mixing high street, high end and vintage and Next is one of my favourite high street stores to look for Homeware. When I'm browsing homeware online, there is often something on Next's website that makes it's way onto my wishlist! Dinnerware, wallpaper and decorative ornaments are generally my personal favourite items from Next but they also do great lighting, rugs, cushions and bedding too.
So I was pretty excited when I was recently asked to pick out some of my favourite homeware items to shoot in our home. It was hard to choose what to go for as there were a lot of great home accessories online, but don't you worry, I managed to get my interior act together and select some cool pieces! My final choices included neon, brass and some fun animal themed homeware and I had a lot of fun styling up the pieces and shooting them at home.
Here is what I chose and how I worked each item into our home...
The gold bird ornament fits in perfectly with my other homeware on my retro hallway sideboard...
I love this Hutton dinnerware and I already had the dinner set so the pasta bowls completed my collection perfectly - the bowls are particularly great to serve starters in for a dinner party!
I absolutely love kitsch animal themed homeware and I knew I had to have this gold squirrel lamp as soon as I saw it! It's a definite talking point in our guest room...
Continuing the animal homeware theme, this gold rabbit rules the roost in our dining room sitting as a centrepiece on our fireplace.
This black and white stoneware tray adds a touch of detail to our grey Corian worktops and I've topped it with some other black and white bowls which all work together nicely.
We make Christmas work all year around in our living room by pairing this cool 'Noel' neon sign with our Stanley Chow Noel Gallagher print.
What better to feature on top of a biscuit barrel than a pig! Very apt as it's difficult to just have one biscuit out of our biscuit jar... it also keeps the biscuits nice and crunchy!
I’ve also selected my five favourite items in store at the moment and there are some really great items to work into your home decor. Have a look below - I'd love to know what your favourite piece it!
Add a bit of midcentury Mad Men styling to your home with this very stylish table lamp. This would amazing as a desk lamp or bedside lights. £60
I love a cushion (according to my husband, we have too many. Never!) and this grey knitted cushion with faux fur pom poms is right up my street. I also love a pom pom. £14
If you're anything like me, then you'll have a tendency to struggle to keep your plants alive. Faux is sometimes the way to go! And then they'll look fabulous forever. £14
4. THE VETIVER AND TONKA BEAN CANDLE
Candles make everything better. And a candle as pretty as this? Well, what's not to love?! £14
Flowers or foliage would look stunning in this super stylish vase. The perfect table centrepiece! £14
