WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT:

  • The hotel is located close to Covent Garden, The Strand & The Southbank
  • For the rooftop bar which has wonderful views across London
  • Stay in modern and cool interiors
  • To enjoy a delicious afternoon tea

Afternoon tea is always a treat but enjoying it looking out over the rooftops of London at ME Hotel’s Radio Rooftop on a sunny day at the end of last year was even more special.

After being escorted in the private lift up to the 10th floor, we were given the perfect seat at the side of the rooftop of the hotel with uninterrupted panoramic views across London. We were brought the afternoon tea menu to peruse whilst enjoying a cocktail each and despite being sunny, since it was November it was a little chilly, so a waiter kindly brought me a blanket for my shoulders, which took away the chill.

The clientele at Radio Rooftop when we were there was a mixture of businessmen and groups of friends celebrating the imminent weekend with early cocktails and there was quite a bustling atmosphere. It’s not the cheapest place to drink but you are paying for a spectacular view across the city.

Our table was laid nicely with gold and white striped modern decadent crockery and first up we were brought a matching cake stand filled with a selection of savoury items. These included a Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese open sandwich, Watermelon with Feta, a Croque Monsieur, Cucumber & Ricotta, Egg Mayonnaise and a Roast Beef Bagel. It was a really nice selection of savoury dishes and it was nice that it wasn’t all sandwiches, which is often the case with afternoon tea.

We were brought our pot of tea each ahead of the sweet treats arriving and I ordered whilst Steve chose. We were also given a palette cleanser of a mousse with fruit coulis and popping candy, which was really refreshing.

Next, another cake stand was brought to our table filled with a Chocolate and Hazelnut Torte, a Raspberry Cake, Chocolate and Passion Fruit Torte, Lime and Ginger Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue Pie, Vanilla Mousse and finally, a Sultana and a Plain Scone each. It was a feast for the eyes and the stomach and every single cake was absolutely delicious and perfectly made. I wish we could have eaten the whole lot but after the savoury items, we were quite full but did manage to have a taste of each item.

It didn’t feel rushed at all during our afternoon tea and the service we received was helpful and polite without being overbearing.

It was nice to sit out and watch the sun set on London and the city become lit up and even nicer when we were able to retire to our room as we were also staying at the 5* hotel that night. The rooms at ME Hotel are modern and minimal and our room had a small balcony where we enjoyed continuing to gaze out at London with a glass of champagne before retiring to our large and comfortable bed.
